- 1871: The very first bank in Waukon, known as "Waukon Bank," was started on May 11 by Lewis W. Hersey of Waukon and J.B. Turck of Milwaukee, WI. The business included general banking, taking deposits, and making loans.
- 1892: On April 22, Waukon Bank was officially incorporated as "Waukon State Bank."
- 1937: The bank moved to its current location in downtown Waukon, providing a central and accessible place for customers.
- 1970: To offer more convenience, a drive-in location was built on Rossville Road.
- 1996: Waukon State Bank expanded by starting a new bank in Decorah, named "Viking State Bank & Trust," with $2,500,000 in capital.
- 2012: Waukon State Bank and Viking State Bank & Trust merged into one chartered bank. Viking State Bank & Trust now operates as a division of Waukon State Bank.
